NASA – There’s An App For That

NASA Apps for Smartphones

Did you know there’s an app for that? Actually there are several NASA apps for iPhones, iPads and Android smartphones.

You can check out our Solar System, the Universe, be a NASA JPL Spacecraft and travel across Mars, check on Space Weather, or travel with Cassini.

You can download Earth Now and keep up to date on the health of our planet, including surface air temperature, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone, and water vapor as well as gravity and sea level variations.

Most of these apps were created by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, they’re pretty stable and of course have inside access to the best of JPLs technology conduits. Unlike some other creators who only pretend to connect to NASA feeds, these actually do.

So far my favorite is Spacecraft 3D, which is an augmented reality (AR) application that lets you learn about and interact with a variety of spacecraft that are used to explore our solar system, study Earth, and observe the universe.

Not all apps are available for all devices so check out which ones are available for you on the NASA Apps For Smartphones webpage. They provide links to the AppStore and GooglePlay where you can view additional information, see screen shots and download those you like.
