Launch Successful For April 21st 5pm est!

Orbital Sciences successfully launches its Antares two-stage vehicle from NASA’s Wallops Island facility in Virginia.

Yesterday the upper level winds were excessive and exceeded the range set for safety restrictions. But today was picture perfect for the rescheduled launch which went off without a hitch!

Antares Launch Coverage Update

Launch Rescheduled For April 21st 5pm est!

Orbital Sciences’ launch of the Antares two-stage launch vehicle is set for Sunday, if the weather and mechanical issues will cooperate.

Yesterday the upper level winds were excessive and exceeded the range set for safety restrictions.

Today’s anticipated launch is drawing crowds from all over the world. People are driving in from hours away, east coasters are holding launch watch BBQs in their yards looking toward the eastern sky.

The rocket will be seen in a wide area of the east coast. If you haven’t checked out the viewing map, you might take a look and see if your area has a chance to see the rocket as it moves into orbit.
