Antares Launch – Countdown Underway

Launch Scheduled For 5:00pm April 20th!!

Orbital Sciences Corporation Planned on a launch at 5pm. As upper level winds increased they also updated their launch time. Around 3pm est they delayed the count by 10 minutes. As it seemed winds were not cooperating, they pushed the launch to 6:10pm est.

Antares Range Count Begins
Sat, 20 Apr 2013 10:47:47 AM EDT

The Range count started on time at 9 a.m. EDT in preparation for today’s launch at 5 p.m. of Orbital Sciences Corporation’s test flight
of its Antares rocket from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Va. The pad close out crew is completing final configuration of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport’s Pad-0A. The team will verify the operation of critical pneumatic and cryogenic components before leaving the pad and allowing the remote control operations to begin.

The launch will be broadcast live on NASA Television beginning at 4:30 p.m.
